Jimpster (live) (UK)

We’re pleased to announce that Jimpster has put together a new hardware-based solo live set, and following a sold-out debut at Jazz Cafe on 21st January we’re now taking bookings for 2022.

Whilst Jamie Odell has always considered himself a musician and performer first and foremost, that side of his talents took a back seat as his demand and profile as a DJ grew. Back in the late 90’s Jimpster was regularly touring as a four-piece live act, playing festivals such as Interference in Berlin, club dates including a recently opened Fabric in London, and his first trips to play in Japan around ’99/00 often included solo live performances as well as DJ sets. In the early to mid 00’s he joined improvisational electronic super-group The Bays and became a key-member playing keyboards for the next five or six years and experiencing some incredible highlights of his career during this time headlining Glastonbury dance tent several times, performing a sold-out Barbican show jamming on stage with Herbie Hancock, playing three John Peel Sessions live from the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios, all without a single record release or any idea what they were going to play before the first note started.

Fast forward to 2022, and with Jamie missing the live performance aspect he has chosen to put together a live set which digs into his vast back-catalogue of originals and remixes, reconstructing and tweaking them live with his MPC, drum machine, Fender Rhodes and FX, making for a unique and flexible show to work the dance floor.
